VR/AR for Cultural Heritage

Project researchers

3D models, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) allow the direct and intuitive access to virtual digital objects visualized in real time on computer screens or through glasses or headsets. VR / AR applications are commonly used in many areas, such as entertainment, sports and tourism, while their use in archaeology is still limited. We investigated the available technologies, sensors and devices (Oculus Rift, Microsoft Kinect, Leap Motion, etec.) to deploy VR/AR solutions in the heritage field for virtual museums and multimedia exhibitions.
