Mobile & hand-held mapping

Project researchers

The project wants to investigate various mobile platforms for 3D surveying and modeling applications, including mobile mapping vans, mobile hand-held scanners, back-pack scanners, etc. A methodology to evaluate the precision and the accuracy of a mobile mapping system with advanced statistical methods is also developed. A caractherization of a hand-held scanner is performed. Case studies in indoor and outdoor scenarios are performed to investigate the metric potentialities of mobile scanning technologies.
